Ableton Live

The backbone of the project are the Slate Digital plugins, namely Virtual Mix Rack and Virtual Tape Machines. Both of these are used on every single track. If they're not loaded on the track in the project, it means the track was rendered with them in place (either for samples that I rendered prior in some other project or for externally processes sounds that were recorded in).

To answer a popular question: Yes, the main rolling bassline is in there, made of 5 synth layers (1 Sylenth1, 2 Massive, 3 Diva).

Things in audio include percussion and some midrange pads/textures, as well as impacts and some risers. These were done using either Evolve/Evolve Mutations/Gravity KONTAKT libraries by Heavyocity Media. They're hard printed and Kontakt ISN'T loaded in the project.

Another common question is related to the maximizer ceiling, which is set to -0,6db. Normally you would keep it at -0,2db, because of intersample clipping. However, if you're gonna convert to MP3 (or export to MP3, something Live still can't do), set it to -0,6db because of additional noise and artifacts that get added in a conversion process and run the audio over 0db. To have digital clipping in 2017 is a cardinal sin.

Next one is related to the workflow. Sometimes I use a Send reverb, and sometimes I'd have it in the FX chain on the track. The reason for this is that sometimes I wish to have the sound go through the Mix Rack along with the reverb, so that it sounds more glued together, as I find that it makes the reverb more perceived as a "part of the sound" rather than simply a reverb on top of a sound. It's completely situational.

Much like the previous project, this one is also heavy on the CPU. This was done on an i5 4690. If you're having playback issues and crackling, I would suggest setting your buffer size to the maximum, and also opening the Ozone Maximizer on Master and Track 20 - "Sub Rolls" and setting it to IRC I.

I keep it on IRC I during mixing because IRC IV eats up CPU really fast. IRC IV Transient mode offers unparraleled maximization while preserving audio integrity and minimizing distortion. I always switch back to IRC IV - Transient before rendering.

If you have ANY questions regarding the project, workflow, or basically anything, please, do not hesitate to ask. Send me an e-mail and I guarantee you a reply within 24 hours!

Thank you!
